Boeing
With the JDAM program in its infancy, Boeing sent their entire Production Air Vehicle Team to DemandPoint’s four-day Demand Flow® Technology Business Strategy training workshop. Boeing’s JDAM production team found commonality and consistency in the DFT approach to lean and it seemed to support the key areas in which they wanted to focus.
“One of the things that we aggressively pursued was inventory turns,” said Karl Bloomberg, Boeing’s JDAM Production Manager. “Industries in weapons programs typically average about seven or eight turns. Our original goal was 50, so it was huge that we realized 78 inventory turns. That’s basically unheard of in our industry.”

Flextronics
Chairman and CEO Michael Marks began to execute a growth strategy focused on improved productivity. One of Flextronics’s key customer’s devotion to the Demand Flow® Technology (DFT) manufacturing philosophy is what pushed Marks to pursue training at DemandPoint. “It became a top-level initiative from our chief executive, Michael Marks, for all plants within the Flextronics umbrella to develop and implement DFT,” said Ron Tarter, General Manager of Flextronics printed circuit-board division.

NACCO
NACCO Materials Handling Group’s European management team attended the Demand Flow® Technology (DFT) Business Strategy training workshop in Denver, Colorado at DemandPoint’s world headquarters and training facility. What they found was that DFT offered a well-defined, step-by-step implementation process and methodology that could serve as the catalyst for standardizing practices throughout NMHG manufacturing operations.
Two months later the European division of NMHG initiated their first DFT implementation at their Northern Ireland facility, Craigavon. The pilot project proved the impact of DFT and validated results sought by the management team. As a result, NMHG pursued DFT as its corporate-wide manufacturing strategy and partnered with DemandPoint to help facilitate the process.
